We are Tania and Gaetano, two expats who moved our families to Spain for new adventures. We both moved here from the US, Tania (originally from the UK) in 2020, with her husband and daughter from Northern Virginia, and Gaetano in 2023 with his two daughters from Los Angeles. We all met in Valencia and got along incredibly well, but while we cracked each other up discussing our fun times adjusting to Spain, there were quite a few eye-rolls from our girls (tweens and teenagers anyone!). In an effort to give our daughters a little break we thought what the heck, let’s share our experiences with unsuspecting strangers instead. This podcast came to life and we hope you enjoy the pitfalls and joys of our experiences - we all have!

hi Tanya hey Gano good morning good morning how you doing um
0:12
I'm good but I'm I'm not enjoying the weather I'm going to have to admit this is not what we moved to Spain for it was
0:18
not on the brochure are you sure I mean I thought you would love it it's like cheery old England here it's just so so
0:24
lovely well as you know speaking of England cuz um I've been going back and forth a lot the last month or so
0:30
and it is been really nice and sunny there I won't say warm but it's been sunny and I am one of those people that
0:36
if it's not going to be warm it at least needs to be sunny and then here it's being rainy and cold and miserable and
0:43
British and I and and I do really appreciate you sending me the Blue Sky
0:48
pictures of England because you know I was in England in uh January and I um it
0:54
rained I froze my butt off and never once saw the Sun not until the plane started flying over Spain my kids were
1:01
like look Dad we're sun again and now we're here and it's been raining I feel
1:08
like since we've gotten back miserable it's been yeah and I did I did tell you to take thermals with you to England you
1:13
were like I'm just going to wear my jeans it's going to be great I'm like I was just there it is not going to be enough okay uh you tell me to buy
1:19
thermals in Spain don't exist well where am I going to go that like where is that I mean it's not the north of Spain we're
1:26
not in mountain town like this is not where the ski resorts are just trying to help you be prepared but clearly you
1:32
would much rather just freeze your butt off so that's fine my upper body was fine okay well I will say I I will say
1:40
you know that when my I have found uh Valencia to be a
1:45
lot colder than I thought and a lot hotter than I thought it was going to be so the winter was really it's cold for
1:51
me right and when we went to England and then came back I was like you know what
1:56
I don't need to wear a scarf anymore like it really like reset my body temperature to be like you know what Spain is not as bad as you think it is
2:03
you kind of get used to it and I will say having we did not live in LA at the same time but I lived in La well
2:08
probably at the same time but we didn't know each other then when I when I lived in La the the temperature there was very
2:15
nice I never used a heater and I never used an air conditioner and those things didn't come with the apartments that I had either as far as I remember I think
2:22
it might have had a heater that was from like 1920 but I wouldn't have dead that was back in the day cuz I think you were in LA in the '90s right I exactly yeah
2:31
so that was the weather was very temperate I mean you could make it through the winter and the summer with
2:36
just I mean just was fine and when I was looking at Valencia as a place to live it seemed very similar so I was like I'm
2:43
prepared for that weather it is not I had the same thought I was like oh
2:48
I would be I was on my couch and Lady be it's 63 degrees here it's 63° there but
2:55
it's a big difference in the 63° right and in and the 40 degrees it's it's more
3:01
humid here it sticks you and then I will say that like for me what I've noticed I
3:07
because being in the city the Sun never hits your face so it just is a lot colder like when I was in LA
3:13
everything's two stories and your car's in the Sun and you're in the Sun and your all your windows are getting
3:19
sunlight so you actually get the warmth of it so I don't know if it's different for you up in the mountains but here in
3:24
the city it is much colder than and I don't know if the weather has changed in La either I haven't been there for many years as you said but here we're up in
3:31
the mountains and the weather is we get more wind which is really nice
3:37
and but that's also more wind and cold in the winter and the rain really really gets to us but I'm going to challenge
3:44
you on the humidity because I've lived in DC and if you've ever lived in Florida or any of those places on the
3:49
East Coast that have real humidity and I see a lot of people arguing about this we're not going to be the first ones it
3:55
is not it is not humid here I'm sorry it is not and I that's I will disagree with you I here's the
4:02
thing is I don't find the humidity here miserable that I'm okay with but in the
4:09
winter a humid winter is a much colder winter like it just gets to your bones like when we were in you know and then
4:15
we really felt it in London because it's so much colder but wet like when La is a dry winter you don't you don't it
4:21
doesn't it bounces off your skin I guess you don't you don't absorb it but this the humidity here in the summer I will
4:27
say I mean it's 90% humidity um I have to check it every day to see if I can hang my clothes out but it is a problem
4:34
if you need to hang your clothes for sure I will agree that there is a level of humidity and a level of dampness when
4:41
it's raining consistently in the winter that makes it difficult to dry your clothes outside so that was one of the
4:46
reasons that we got a dryer when we first moved into our house when the first winter so the first few Winters we
4:52
were here I don't think it rained that much it was very pleasant we were in an apartment it was it seemed to me very
4:58
nice and we were like great this is wonderful when we moved into our house up in the mountains and that's that
5:05
winter it rained torrentially nothing like this this is a English kind of rain
5:10
that we're getting it that winter it rained torrentially with crazy wind for
5:15
about 6 weeks straight with no sun and that was we were like oh my God this is
5:20
not at all what we had planned for but that didn't it didn't H that didn't happen
5:25
again you know um so that's probably one of those things that maybe happens every now and again and it's been it's been
5:33
much nicer but that was the winter when I was like we need a dryer like you know this is not the weather we moved here
5:39
for this isn't it at all I mean my first year I mean last year it didn't rain
5:45
like it didn't rain our first year there was like a Florida thunderstorm once or twice that summer that you know and we
5:51
were like oh look at it just comes and goes I love it here no rain and the Sunshine and then this year I'm like um
5:57
where's this 320 days of sunshine we were promised because it's not happening you know we
6:04
unfortunately had that horrible that that Dana and then and and then you and
6:09
that was horrible and then everything was closed and now it's raining again yeah yeah and it's not like it's not
6:15
raining like that and that was that Dana was a very unique um like event that
6:22
doesn't you know that that's not happening every time it rains it's just we are now just getting a lot of rain and that's sort of going down and it's
6:27
making everything damp like you said and and one of the consequences um of the
6:32
Dana for the schools is that I think now obviously everybody is a bit more worried that a a rain might create that
6:40
and nobody knows and it's it's that's a little bit you know sort of unsettling and they're closing schools right now a
6:47
bit more consistently if if we are predicted Heavy R they closed schools before ever for the not that I remember
6:54
not not for I mean very very very heavy rain if it's like one day maybe um
7:00
because a lot of so it had happened before the this last Dana do you remember school being closed that's
7:06
right and you also moved here during Co so your whole schedule I have I have no nothing has been normal like there's no
7:13
normal there's no normal I I mean one of the things that happens when it rains I will say here is for instance where we
7:20
live we live in the mountains we have the option of taking a main road or a Farm Road to school and you know we
7:26
can't take the farm roads when it's raining a lot because they get sort of did they become difficult to to drive on
7:33
um and you might come across a little dip in the road that's just completely underwater so you know it makes it more
7:38
difficult to drive around and but if you stay on the main roads you're totally good but I think you know some of the
7:44
you know some of the buses from schools are coming from areas that might have some issues so they close the schools in case you know because the buses are
7:50
going from the other side of Valencia everywhere yeah I mean I mean it's yeah I mean you if you're they have to travel
7:57
some of these kids are on the bus like an hour hour and a half in the morning I think there supposed to be a liit of how long the kids are allowed to be on
8:02
the bus but I'm not sure that that's I don't know what that is and so yeah so they're coming from all over so your
8:07
school might be closed because something's happening in a mountain town somewhere that's nowhere near where you are and and and the thing is too is that
8:14
Valencia is it's a valley right it's actually a river Delta right it's a dry it's all these Dry River beds so if it's
8:20
in one mountain you're like that's so far away but it all has to lead to the Sea right so that's the like when we had
8:26
that Dana it wasn't raining in the city like the city was it was really windy and we were like what do you mean like
8:32
there's craziness happening was the tragedy but in in this last week I few
8:38
weeks ago when they you know it's this rain is putting a damper on things right it really impeded how FAS was going on
8:46
and they cancelled have they can have they canell a few like of the masclet or
8:51
things because of the weather yeah it was like four yeah it was four days and when we had that weather in the beginning of March that that first week
8:58
of fas was shut down and that really affected remember I had said how the fire start had a really slow start and
9:06
so the first the first year that we were in the house that we had this crazy weather and it was it was a combination
9:13
of heavy rain and wind it wasn't just one or the other so that was that was actually the year that um Zeno and I
9:20
went into town just to go shopping and they had not canceled the Mas cletas but they had moved them but I don't know who
9:27
keeps track of when they move and cancel things because I never see like notifications anywhere so I I don't know
9:32
where that notification is happening so we that was when we sort of accidentally ended up on a mascleta in in the Town
9:39
Square cuz and we were like and there wer that many people CU they had moved it so it was at like you know it was I
9:44
don't know at noon instead of two or something and and we sort of accidentally be came across it which was actually really nice but it was funny
9:51
because you know you think you have a handle on schedules in Spain you never have a handle on schedules in Spain this
9:57
will be kind of an ongoing situation that you think something's happening and then it's not
10:03
happening later on so we've had that we have a um in our little urbanization
10:09
here we have a whole Fiesta in August and they put out a schedule of how everything's going to happen some of it
10:16
happens some of it happens when the schedule says it's going to happen but it not not
10:22
always we have I did find a website I don't know if you know this a little off
10:27
topic called f in eng English and they've been really good um about uh all
10:36
the fireworks it's really about fireworks a year round they update when yeah it's really updated and and and and
10:42
it's not just about FAS right it's the fireworks any day of the week they even had some of the local ones that happened
10:48
during FAS in my neighborhood that you have no way of knowing about they had a couple of those not all of them CU you
10:54
know there's a lot of fear of Miss they do things yeah do they do things they so they do things that aren't fires they do
11:00
things throughout the year or not right all McLoud do and fireworks just for the just for the fires not for other events
11:06
no for no for the whole year so all oh all fireworks and everything oh okay Co
11:12
yeah yeah I came about that after a year of living here and I was like finally because there were some other websites
11:18
that would have stuff that just wasn't it's they didn't update it for a few weeks and you're like I'm hearing stuff
11:23
why are you and I think you know in other places that might be doable but I think in Spain things do change
11:29
and if that's a full-time job I think keeping up so whoever's running that website well done if you're keeping up with it because that is a full-time job
11:36
well well things change but they also stay the same like I also have found that it's you don't find this
11:41
information because everyone just I everyone just knows what's going on they
11:47
it's like they they're like why would we print that this is on this day because it's always been on that day and if you
11:52
would have been born here you would have know I and I think do they have an embedded chip or something because this is exactly what happens with our
11:59
urbanization event which is we would go down to things and they were like oh we moved it to 12 and it's you know it was
12:05
supposed to be at six o'clock in the evening so not only have they moved it we've missed it so it was like we yeah we moved it
12:11
because of the weather or something and I was like well why didn't you post that on our group but I think there's you
12:17
know sometimes it's also it's a tightnit community now all the all the fires clubs would probably know what's going
12:23
on so that's almost everybody in Valencia that's Spanish or valencian will know and if you and if you think
12:29
about it those Fest clubs that the Cals that's their um uh right the fireworks
12:37
displays are really just for them right right so it's it's not really our business it's not our business I'm sorry
12:43
that it went through your window it's not your business this well you had your window open during fire so that was really your own fault
12:50
exactly but I you know back to like the the the the weather topic like it is it's very like you know the rains
13:00
like I said that the mountain it seems the mountains catch it and the city just kind of the the valley uh Bears the
13:07
brunch of oh really so like today well today is I mean now again it's this
13:12
English rain that we're getting today so it's not it's raining but it's it's raining just enough that our dog does
13:18
not want to go outside to pee so now we have an issue it's like it's like La rain too like La would missed for a week
13:24
and you're like I don't need an umbrella like an umbrella would be more of a hassle like it's going to just
13:29
like I haven't used an umbrella this week because it's it's not that kind of but then yeah but when but then we get
13:35
the rainstorms get the we do get we move from we move from Washington DC from from from Northern Virginia and those
13:42
rains are they get a lot of thund but those are really cool because you have a sunny day and then it gets cloudy for like an hour and it rains torrentially
13:48
for half an hour and then it's sunny the next morning so that's the kind of weather that I'm like I can get on board with that because I can still go about
13:54
all my other things that I want to do it's it's a it's a run and done
13:59
so the other the other thing that surprised me which is sort of related to the weather when we moved here was that
14:06
the Mediterranean Sea was not sort of warm all year round enough to swim in
14:13
and I thought it would be warmer for longer during the summer so well that's
14:19
that's kind of something that we've sort of experienced and kind we put our toes in and go yeah we're not going in now
14:25
yeah but the problem is here that yes I mean last last year this time we had it was
14:32
really lovely weather during that beginning of March last year because I remember we did go to the beach and we
14:37
laid out and no I could not get my toes in the water but if you go to the beach in mid July it's too hot to swim like
14:45
it's not refreshing right so you have this very so we when I think the first year that we were allowed to go to the
14:51
beach which was the first year that we were allowed to go to the beach at that time that would have been 2021 because the beaches were closed
14:57
when we got here so 21 was the first winter that we could experience going to the beach and and all of that and we
15:04
went with um our daughter and some friends and their daughter that were friends and they and it was funny so
15:11
that I want to say that was April it was cold but the the girls were jumping in the water and sort of you know they
15:18
weren't going in but they were happy to just run around you know in the water and the waves and stuff a little bit
15:25
even though that was too cold for us so obviously we all have a little bit of a different gauge and I also know people that do like polar swims every every
15:32
week oh well we don't need to talk about those people there's people that might want to do that there are groups that do that um and I attempted to do that in
15:40
our pool and I made it to I think December and then I gave up oh you were
15:46
able to swim in your pool through S is a um not a word I would use to describe
15:52
what I was doing you put your foot in I I went in up to my neck think of it like going into to one
15:59
of those like polar ice buckets where you just like was were you doing a Health Challenge I was doing a Health
16:04
Challenge gotcha okay plus plus plus we have a pool and I'm like we moved here
16:10
and we wanted a pool so someone's going to use this all year round and I guess it's going to have to be the Brit cuz no
16:16
one else is getting in and then we had visitors come from Sweden actually some American friends of ours that are living
16:22
in Sweden and and they came down in February and their kids I mean they came from Sweden right so their kids just
16:28
jumped right in and even us even me I'm like have at it here some towels when you get out you
16:35
have to get those like silver blankets they have in the K myar blankets to keep
16:40
oh my God kids I mean kids can kids are crazy and it and I guess it was warm enough um but that was that's the
16:48
earliest anyone's been in our pool and I wouldn't say that would have been a pleasant experience for most people we
16:54
would usually wait I like a nice tepid ocean water see right know in California
17:01
you know the water there is not warm enough to swim until like the end of the SE it's also really big waves and I I
17:07
don't likeing in there but yeah I mean it can be scary right but like it doesn't until like August when you're
17:13
like oh I can really swim in this you know so what are you looking at so you're looking at so correct me if I'm
17:19
wrong you're looking at maybe um May to May to the middle of June and then
17:27
maybe end of August to middle of September if you're looking for that perfect tepid Mediterranean end of
17:34
August Yeah well yeah end of August um or no really beginning of September to
17:39
middle of October that's good that was really nice because when we've swam in the the
17:46
sea in the middle of October and it's perfect the day is like 72 74 around there that's the time of year yeah
17:52
that's the time of but July August you can like poach eggs in the sea and it it's like and it's so hot and humid
17:59
outside that you're like it's 98 degrees this water oh you look at you're like it's so you're like it's going to be
18:05
refreshing and you're like I'm going to be sick like I felt nauseous getting in it and then like you and here right the
18:11
the beach is the there's no the Shelf is very shallow right so you have to walk very far before you get to the cool
18:18
water that depends that does depend on which beach you go to that will vary because some some of them are more mixed
18:24
in and you'll sort of go in and get sort of cooler we've only been to the city beaches so yeah maybeth of
18:31
city and also the um and also [Music]
18:42
the uh sorry about that so speaking of the weather trouble
18:47
in Paradise trouble in Paradise speaking of the weather um we have a dog whose
18:53
first thing that she learned as a German Shepherd the first thing she learned to do was to open all of our doors so we
18:59
have no privacy in our house oh God so I can put a sticker on my door and say I'm recording but the dog has not
19:05
intelligent enough to read that yet and due to the weather she's inside and she
19:12
got bored because she's a three-year-old very puppy like German Shepherd you've met her she's insane yes um so she
19:18
decided that she was bored and she wanted to participate in this activity so I just had to go let her out and it's
19:25
actually not raining that bad right now so she'll be outside now this is what happens when the weather
19:31
goes like this right and then she's one of these dogs that are scared of the the rain right well yeah she doesn't really
19:36
want to be she doesn't want to be wet no she's you know if anyone has German Shepherds there they are the cutest and
19:43
very intelligent but they are just very just adorably silly sometimes and she
19:48
looks at the the rain and she's like no thank you so right now she's right now she's
19:54
digging in the garden because it's been raining for weeks and the garden everything you have cats up there in
20:00
your mountain lair so what about the cats do they come in and out or they just well they enjoy the rain or they
20:05
yeah they come in and hang out but they also don't seem to mind going out and getting wet and then coming in and
20:11
sitting on your bed and getting your bed all wet you know wet and muddy that's
20:16
nice exactly so where were we at we were talking about the beach we were talking about the beach and the water
20:22
temperature and I'm going to kind of disagree with you on some of the I think the Mediterranean during the summer is
20:29
it is I I will agree it's a little extra warm during really the July August time
20:34
but it is really nice I mean it is just like getting into a bath and if you go later in the day or earlier in the day
20:42
or you stay till after dark on the beach it is fantastic to stay off the oh yeah that's great but and get in in the
20:48
afternoon it's two in the afternoon it is not enjoyable until you move out
20:54
right like I'm talking about these City beaches where they it it takes I mean it's you're 100 meters out and you're
21:00
still at Mid ankle right like you're not you're not mid ankle but you know mid leg right you're like at your knees so
21:06
it just it just sits there and you get out and then you're like oh this is cool but you've had heat stroke by the time you got to the cool water well I think
21:13
part of that yeah part of that goes to like how hot it is in the summer because
21:20
I'm not somebody that's ever really enjoyed just laying on a beach and taking in the Sun Ray so you know in I
21:26
we don't go to the beach from like noon to 3: or something it's too hot because
21:32
even if you want to go in and cool off yes the water's warm it will cool you off because you're going to be a
21:37
thousand degrees by that point it's too hot for me overall like it's I can't handle that but there are plenty of people there enjoying that so there's
21:44
obviously different people for different things and I do enjoy that heat like I can handle that but then when you try to
21:50
get to the water you're this is it it's not so refreshing not so refreshing yeah so it like you said it's a little hotter
21:56
in the summer than I thought it was going to be well and and you and and because it's so humid and yes I agree
22:02
it's so hum I've lived in New York I've lived in New Jersey I've lived in
22:07
Chicago I know what a hot I know that hot and humanid I don't find it suffocating like that's what I mean I
22:15
agree it's not like Florida I've been to Florida at Christmas and like was grossed out at how humid it felt right
22:21
yeah and so I agree there I just feel like but it is very humid here but I
22:28
find it it's a it's definitely more bearable I'm not complaining like other people I don't mind I just realize I'm
22:34
in a sweat all day and I wear like dark colored clothing in the summer so I'm not doing like you know like someone
22:40
that got fired from Hooters CU you know oh my God we're on Hooters now how do we get
22:46
there on Hooters now I hear the food is really good there that's the chicken fingers no I mean but it is like a wet
22:53
t-shirt contest for me all throughout the summer but it's not miserable right like in New York I was miserable in the
22:59
summer also you just you're filthy and you just you know here it's just it's just and we do it is a very windy city
23:06
right and you're talking about the winds in the mountains the city here is very windy so even when it's 93 or 103 if
23:13
you're in the shade and a wind's coming bearing down the Narrow Street like you can sit outside and enjoy an iced
23:20
coffee wait wait okay can we just speak about iced coffees for a second cuz you may not enjoy an iced coffee actually in
23:27
most places around here you have to enjoy a cafe Delo or Alo now I can't
23:33
remember which one it is where they bring you the coffee and they bring you the ice in a glass and you have to make
23:38
the ice coffee yourself oh yeah you yeah you're it self sered it self serve it's so funny cuz when I was like I just want
23:43
a big American iced coffee you know and I want to sip on that for a while and cool off that's not happening I mean
23:49
probably is happening in the city because you can go to Starbucks and you can go to places that might have that but generally speak Starbucks I've G to
23:57
there's a there's a place near us that's very American britishy like they have a
24:02
wonderful brunch venue um big like big American British style breakfast you know it's designer but it's you pancakes
24:08
and waffles and and and omelets and big breakfast and so they have more American
24:15
Stu coffees and I went there I'm like can I have a iced iced smoker you know they and he looked at me like you were
24:21
from another planet where are I don't know so yeah and we're outside of
24:26
Valencia as you know and M we have even places that are trying to be more
24:32
International are still Spanish and they're still serving the same coffee and they're not serving you know waffles
24:37
and pancakes and things like that so we we would have to go into the city for a more American experience and it sounds
24:43
like everybody would have to go would will is not getting an iced coffee anywhere you know other than a Starbucks
24:48
which which surprises me considering it is the summers are long and warm I'm I'm surprised that ice coffee isn't a thing
24:56
right you can buy milkshakes at every ice cream place so maybe that's what people and then obviously ice water and
25:01
things like that you can buy a nice you know you can buy soft drinks and things but yeah the The Ice they do have ice here unlike other European countries ice
25:08
is a thing in Spain but it is something you have to ask for it's not something often that's sort of just given um well
25:15
for us it usually is for when we get like a soda or uh you know water with glass it's usually what I love here is
25:21
that it's usually just one huge giant ice cube well I love that and I've actually bought those um those ice trays
25:28
from my freezer because I love those big big ice you know I think they they're like they're like so our audience knows
25:34
they're they're I would say the ice cubes are like three and a half inches tall and like an inch and a half or two inches in diameter and they're the ones
25:41
that were like big cylinders of ice yeah and those are the ones that they that used to you would have in a fancy
25:47
restaurant probably in a whiskey or whatever alcohol you put ice in I can't remember I don't drink that stuff so I don't know which one it is but you get
25:53
it go to a fancy restaurant you have a fancy glass and has one big ice cube in it those are the ones we're talking about and they're awesome love it but
26:01
that's but that is yeah it's a different experience I think trying to just it it's and yeah to your point yes you get
26:07
ice with the water and the sodas and things but if you want it with your coffee if you want an iced coffee you're making it yourself which which works but
26:13
it's also tiny it's also a tiny iced coffee so it's not going to last you very long so you better order water too
26:19
the the the funny thing is when he did make this iced mocha for me right he was doing it like it was a hot mocha so it
26:26
was like this like espresso and this chocolate and then like tons of milk because he was like I'm like no it needs
26:32
a lot more ice and so it just didn't quite work but that's I mean I did it but you know what I just
26:37
make them at home so you make them at home and I will say I have a place that I go and that place now knows me and
26:45
will make me a a long iced coffee in a glass cuz they also don't have I mean
26:51
this is something I struggle when I go home to my parents too they don't have big glosses and big mugs here generally
26:58
right to start with so even if you want you're not getting an American siiz cup of coffee here yeah so even if you want
27:03
a bigger drink they don't have the facility to give you a bigger drink right so there's that as well yeah
27:11
that's true yeah so that's you know but anyway that's a whole that's a coffee thing um that's my because my preference
27:18
is always even in the middle of winter I am a cold coffee drinker that's just me I'm not I'm not a big I'm not a big I
27:23
need my lattes and things so that's my own issues apparently
27:28
um but the but yeah going back to the weather I think it it definitely is hotter than I expected and colder than I
27:34
expected but it's still you know relative to hot and cold places it's it's not I mean it's hard to complain
27:41
because it's not that hot or that cold it's just more than I thought and and I
27:46
was coming from La after 22 years which you know La really has the perfect weather on Earth I mean weather's
27:51
changing I was going to say hotter it has I mean the summers are hotter there's a lot more 100 degree days
27:59
and and there's a lot more rains than there have been and then there's longer dry spells so those things change you do
28:05
need heat and you do need air conditioning and my when I first moved to LA like you're saying 2001 I mean
28:11
like to to add on to you like I didn't need heat or air conditioning my first like six seven years there might been
28:16
like two or three days where I'm like oh this is miserable but you pet a fan you put one foot in ice water and you you
28:22
get through it for the night right but now it's like no you need air conditioning a lot so so changed there
28:29
it's changed there too it's it's changed there too but looking at it when I was looking at just temperatures I wasn't
28:34
thinking about humidity and but and the thing difference like La was even in the
28:40
winter you have 80 degree days which you don't have here like Valencia the weather is the weather so it's if it's
28:47
winter it's winter if it's summer it's that's very profound the weather is weather weather is thank you for that
28:55
inspiration I'll be doing a TED talk later this week and
29:01
so no but I mean like at La like I mean here the seasons the se you have four seasons right they're mild but the Four
29:08
Seasons but in La like it'll be 6 degrees and then you'll have a couple days of 80° days in January and then
29:13
it'll go back to 60 and then you know June is doesn't get above 62 right like
29:19
the weather is very fluid in LA right so you can you can FL yeah I mean and I
29:24
will say here generally you can plan things that I mean we're talking right now that we we're in we're sitting in
29:29
the middle of a of a wet spell but generally speaking you can plan things and and and expect the weather to be
29:35
nice and nice enough to do whatever it is you want to do it's not it's not it's not a terrible climate here at all it's it's
29:42
really lovely yeah over it's more of a it's just more of a shock versus you can't do I mean it's a wonderful place
29:47
to live I mean there is no the the weather is not impeding anything except for these storms had and and now there's
29:53
this like this last couple weeks they're just hyper paranoid because of the the tragedy that's affecting the schools and
29:59
then the kids are home from school because they're worried that something like going to happen that is fun yes so fun I love my kids well you know it's
30:07
I've been in England in those days um my husband was here so I was like yeah well I good I should I should call
30:15
him but it is yeah and we've had we've definitely had a few you know almost 100° weather days
30:24
but that's not a consistent thing either I think we will have maybe a couple in July or August you know it's not it's
30:30
not a consistent thing where like you've got weeks and weeks of 100 degrees weather it's not like that no but you have weeks and weeks of high 80s to high
30:37
July is in the 90s and the in August by the mid August it starts being everyday
30:42
is in the 80s and you make it 100 degree day but I will say it's very consistent right like it is it isn't it doesn't
30:48
fluctuate you'll get these Peaks and valleys but you know July's just going to be hot and AUST is going to be hot
30:54
and then and then September is like gorgeous and beautiful and then by Halloween you're like I guess we are
31:00
keeping the well tell tell me something because you're in the city the whole time
31:06
so um Zeno and I went down to the city one like a few days but I mean in July
31:12
last year and it was quite hot which was fine we were expecting it so we were
31:17
dressed for it and you know we were planning all the ice cream so you know ice cream stops around the city whatever we were doing but it was lovely there
31:24
was nobody in the city it was it was I was like oh my God not to be cuz I'm cuz
31:29
I'm not a city city person I don't like to be constantly surrounded by tons of people that was the part that was the
31:36
Valencia that I loved I was like this is amazing so I'm going to I'm going to and
31:42
I I want to say thank you for saying that because I will go on the message boards and I hear people say Oh Valencia
31:48
the tour that's getting it looks like Barcelona the tourist every Valencia does not have tourists we don't we have
31:54
them during fires and that's it if you've ever lived in a city that has tourist Valencia does not have tourist
31:59
it's not like that at all July no and July and August well August everyone's out of the city lives here so we need
32:06
the tourist to actually have people on the sidewalks and there's very few of them yes I will say it was mostly foreigners it seemed but very few and we
32:14
very few it was delightful I have to say it was get into everything there's no crowds anywhere I love the city in the
32:21
summer it's hot but it is it's so chill and relaxed and and and everyone's still
32:27
everyone's nice and and it is an overrun like the only time the city has overrun Whi tours is those last few days of FS
32:34
right other times than that it's just which is understandable and predictable right so I think a lot of people that
32:40
live in Valencia especially I mean Spanish people I'm sure I mean you've been once you've been to a ton of fires
32:45
if you're not going to be a part of it if you're not part of actually participating in one of those um f clubs
32:53
a lot of people leave you know people leave with their pets as well you know because it's not a great great time to have pets in the city so I was you know
33:00
it there's also that's predictable it's just it is at a certain time the dates are there so July and August maybe
33:07
they're all in Barcelona I don't know and what's great about here is good and bad so in the summer everything's air
33:14
conditioned so you're not like it's not like you're like trudging through anair conditioned streets you know like even
33:20
in New York I me when I lived in New York in the 90s there's still places that where air conditioned you're like it's going to be hot for four months and
33:27
I'm but but on the flip side of that um I still you know I'll complain about how
33:34
cold it is here in the winter and it's not like I wear a cotton sweater and one of those like puffer vest and that's all I need every once in a while I'll throw
33:40
out like a full puffer jacket but the Spaniards dress for the season and not
33:47
the temperature if you've noticed like so in the winter it could be like 68
33:53
like the weather's starting to change now right it's we're getting like I'm I was out in shorts today shorts in a
33:58
sweater my favorite yeah it's raining but it's not cold it's not cold but there are people that are bundled up in
34:04
like parkas like they're on an Antarctic expedition and I'm like so they dress for the season and not necessarily for
34:11
Comfort right they're like this is my winter clothes and this is what I'm wearing but I'm like it's like almost 70 degrees like this is you don't you don't
34:18
need to wear that outfit like you can it's aren't you D but you go into the shops and like or the hospital like I
34:24
was just at the hospital or just so our listeners know you go to the hospital
34:29
here to also see your doctors a lot of doctors are in hospitals it's um it's I I didn't have an emergency you don't
34:35
have to send me anything start go find me so so I went to we were in the hospital
34:42
I'm like I'm dying cuz they still had the heat cranked up like it was 42 degrees outside right but I will say I
34:48
did this yesterday because you look out this is one of the issues you look outside you're like it's raining it's
34:54
miserable let me dress for that and I dressed for that and I was I had a I had this t-shirt on which that's not enough
35:01
so I put like a light sweater and then it was raining so I needed a jacket I was so hot that was completely
35:07
inappropriate so I'm doing what you're saying the Spanish people are doing which is kind of dressing for what it looks like I going to call you out you
35:13
do have a front door and late and Patty like you could literally time to go out the front door to check the weather I
35:19
five girls go to the balcony and I go stand out like do I need my jacket go open the front door to the balcony stand
35:25
outside and you tell me you have you give me way too much I'm not doing from now on I want you
35:31
like you literally have a Terrace off of your bedroom you could just walk out there in your P but it's raining so if I
35:37
go outside to check the weather I'm going to get wet so I need to put a Jack I mean it's too complicated okay it's comp ladies and gentlemen it is
35:42
drizzling it is not pouring rain right now do not listen to her yes you are right but I'm not that
35:50
prepared so I I did in or fenace I layered so that I could take things off but I did take with me way too many
35:56
things obviously but then the girls and I complain they go to you you go to the El Court you go to the different stores and you like walk in and you're like the
36:03
front door is here it's you don't need this heat on like it's you can go outside you know it's it's def it's
36:09
definitely definitely different yeah and we were as you know we were at iMed yesterday for our allergies SL colds
36:16
we're not really sure what we have but there's been an insane amount of pollen so this is another seasonal thing I
36:21
don't know if you see this in the city everything here is yellow there is this there is a I think it's a pine tree
36:29
pollen that that comes out at this time of year as well and the streets are yellow your car is yellow it's just
36:35
floating around you can feel it like in your eyes so we were you know we're flying on Saturday to go to England so I
36:42
was like let's just go to iMed so we went to the emergency room perfectly normal so that's very different
36:48
experience we're like we don't have time to get a doctor's appointment we're just going to go but and they will if you call for an appointment they'll just say
36:54
go to the emergency room so this is we're not taking advantage of any system or anything literally what you do it's it's done it's how it's done so we were
37:00
like we're flying we don't want to have stuffed sinuses or I was feeling like I was getting an earache and so we're like
37:07
we'll just go down to the emergency room and get looked at so that we if we need any medication to be clear for flying
37:14
then we're good because Zeno had had a really horrible experience on the plane one time where she had stuffed sinuses and was in pain the whole the whole
37:20
flight and that was it was awful I couldn't do any what can you do we're on a plane could you just like let us out
37:26
like give us a par Paro and let let us out of the plane because oh awful for next time Pro tip always travel with
37:32
afron like a nasal spray I had a nasal spray but it wasn't clearing the pressure that had been then created
37:38
because we didn't at that that time we didn't know she had any sinus problems because you know how sometimes you have
37:43
a little bit of sinus issues but it doesn't feel like anything and she didn't have a cold so I was like this time we're going to be prepared because
37:49
obviously she's also worried about getting on a plane with a cold now probably forever which I totally
37:54
understand so we went down there I had an event I had to get to at late noon so we we drove down there we went into the
38:01
emergency room there were two people there I was like awesome we were both of us had an appointment because we couldn't have the same appointment
38:07
because she needed a pediatric doctor and I needed a regular doctor cuz I was like can we just see one doctor we literally just need to be checked you
38:13
know no fine we were in and out of there in 20 minutes both of us it was amazing
38:19
and you know it that's one of the things here that I just love that we can just like pop to the doctor and still make
38:24
our appointment and be at the emergency room and still make an appointment in town at like noon oh yeah and and I mean
38:30
they only I will say my experience with the hospital doctors like or my doctors that are at the hospital um their
38:36
appointments are usually on the I there's only one doctor we usually have to wait for and she's a she's a highly
38:44
specialized Specialists doing special special things so I'm sorry is she special she's specialized um so and and
38:53
and she and I will say this and she even said that when we saw her for um a couple weeks ago she said she's still
38:59
making up from when the hospital was closed during the Dana because all of those appointments and she's like
39:05
everything's still backed up and she's like they're still double booking appointments just to try to get through those I mean how long were they out for
39:11
like a week I felt like right prob longer the hospitals were closed so anyway but you were going to say about
39:18
allergies um get us back to our weather topic um this is something that I've suffered from in LA and in DC but
39:26
different times of the year so for me the allergy season is now which is you
39:31
know March and it's been this yellow stuff is floating around and it is and I went to the allergy doctor I got
39:37
testrone think I'm not allergic to anything but that stuff is giving me all the allergy symptoms that I would get if
39:42
I had an allergy so I don't know the difference between an allergy and a non-allergy in that regard I'm feeling
39:48
the same crappy feeling regardless I I you so I had really bad I've have had
39:55
really bad allergies before we moved here and for the past few years I had been getting allergy shots and it has
40:01
changed my life and so many things right but then I moved here and I was getting I've gotten sick a number of times and
40:11
but I'm like am I sick or is it allergies I've talked to other other you
40:16
know expats that have moved here and they're like I'm getting a lot too it's my allergies I'm like and it feels like allergies it doesn't feel a sickness
40:22
like I'm not getting a fever I don't know and so you're like am I adjusting to new things of I creating new allergy
40:28
so that I went to the allergist here and they're like you're only allergist to these four things I'm like oh the same four things I was allergic to there but
40:33
but I obviously something's happening here because you know there'll be certain times of the years things will come up but then I also have to remember
40:40
I'm living in a real City again and I haven't lived in a real City in a long time more things so I'm I mean around
40:47
people right you're just around people people are you no but you're you know but you're getting a lot more germs oh I
40:54
see oh I see I thought you were talking so there's a lot of little I may not have ever been used to that's
41:00
true you're being exposed to more things but also do you have to adjust your allergy shots to a different mixture I'm
41:05
not doing them anymore I I I went to the allergist here and she's like we can do it but she was like I'd rather not
41:12
you've had the shots for so many years let's just see how you go and then she gave me this link to fill out and I I've
41:17
been really free and clear and then like I'll have like a bad week and I'm like maybe it's sick maybe it's allergies but
41:22
it's not enough to go back and so I don't need them right I I think those allergy shots changed my life and I did
41:28
it for like 3 years it's I feel like it's hard to know and Zeno obviously has allergies too and sometimes it feels
41:34
like okay everyone in the school is coughing and sneezing are they having allergies are there is there a Cold
41:40
going around it's it's very difficult to know which which one is going on because often those little things like you said
41:45
that you're catching because you're living in the city or because you have kids in a different school with different people coming from different
41:51
countries coming around it's like those little colds and aren't that much it is
41:56
you know it feel like a small allergy but for sure right now you can see the pollen on everything it's everywhere and
42:02
it losts and it blows around and they call it yellow smoke when you can see it flying off the trees it's amazing it
42:09
looks we lived in New Jersey growing up when I when I was here we Liv New Jersey for a while and I remember that we'd
42:14
come out in the car like the my mom would do the windshield wiper on the car it would just be this orange like right
42:20
sludge yeah from the like on everything yeah so here I'm not noticing it but
42:26
next time you're here um uh I I'll post this on we'll do a Facebook post of this what I'm talking
42:32
about is the root like behind my apartment there's the big Courtyard right above all the buildings and I'll show you there there's a tin roof and
42:39
it's looks like it's insulated but it's that yellow pollen you're talking about and it just keeps building up year I 100
42:45
Years of no one's cleaning it no one's cleaning it yeah so I don't know it could just be an intolerance to just
42:52
having all that stuff flying in your eyes and stuff and not actually an allergy that's I mean that is possible
42:57
have to be allergic to dust to make have it make you sneeze right what your nose so that's one of the I mean I think
43:03
every obviously everywhere there's different things that grow that's I mean for for me that's happening at this time of year and yeah it's something to just
43:11
manage and then you go somewhere else and it's a different thing and a it's a different type of pollen in a different time of year you know um but overall I
43:18
think the rain also will bring up things so that's you know that can be another
43:23
thing that makes things grow that you're allergic to um but overall
43:28
yeah I went to the allergist they can test you just like they can everywhere else and you can see if you're allergic to anything and manage it so I mean it
43:33
hasn't for sure it hasn't been unmanageable it's just something that's been happening and it is due to the extra rain I think right now as well so
43:42
it's not enough to make you leave is what you're saying not quite no I haven't found that thing yet I mean
43:48
the weather is adjusting but I do have to say it's not as bad it's just it's just not California it's not that
43:54
weather and I do I do miss but um I think you're right I think it's more of a surprise because it's not just
44:01
beautiful all year round you got 365 years of s that's how they sell it be honest that's how K nass sells it that's
44:07
how the Facebook group sell it that's how Forbes 10 best cities in the world sells it so came here and it is actually
44:14
the flipflops and the beach umbrella ready and you forgot your umbrella and it is a place on Earth you
44:21
know that has weather so there you have it yeah it does we still love it we
44:29
still love it yeah I mean it's great I mean I so I wear a sweater I mean but now we're in my elet so then this I will
44:34
say that the I was having these kind of thought patterns because I do suffer from seasonal affected disorder and I
44:41
when I lived in New York it was miserable and then when I moved to LA didn't really have it because I my body
44:47
was in the sun all the time right because and now that I'm here even though it's sunny um because it's the
44:53
city and everything's eight stories tall and the streets are narrow the Sun never can hit your face unless you're like in
44:58
the park or in the intersection or a big one of the squares which I don't find myself in going to the grocery store and
45:03
taking my kids to and from school you know I mean I'm in just kind of the Val the the concrete Canyon as it were so it
45:10
did affect me so I was like how will I change next year because the reality is it isn't that cold and for me I find
45:19
November December much colder than January February and I don't know if that's because it's such the shock to
45:25
the system that because you know it isn't that cold here right it's 60s
45:31
during the day mid 40s at night in the winter but it does feel colder because
45:36
when you're when you're just coming down from 80s to 103 for three months that's
45:42
a huge I mean it's a huge drop but that's where I disagree yeah that's where I disagree with you because I feel
45:47
like in October November December I'm happy for it to be cool right because we've been in the summer and it's been
45:53
hot and sometimes really hot and I'm and I'm I don't manage the Heat myself that well so I'm really happy for it to be
45:59
cold in that at the end of the year by the time March comes around and we're getting rain I'm like I'm done I want
46:05
the I want the hot now so for me it's the other way around a little bit it's the other way well you it's that
46:10
britishness in you you're just like cold Dark Places I do not but but I do love to complain so you know I have to
46:17
complain at some point of the year that it's not absolutely perfect when I noticed this last year once like
46:23
February hit it's still cold like the days are getting longer there's more light and then these sprinkling of high
46:30
60s days where I'm walking around in shorts and a sweater and I'm like this is like that's perfect so for me I'm I'm
46:37
looking towards the light but come November December I mean I do like October don't get me wrong but like come
46:42
November December especially December I just feel like the days are getting shorter it's the end of the year it's
46:48
just it's the Grim Reaper of life is swallowing me and I'm cold and there's
46:53
no point in living and then I will say there's one other thing about this time
46:59
of year that I really don't like and that's because we live in the mountains and we have a dog and the cats but the
47:04
cats I think are smarter than dogs in this area so I'll go on hikes up in the mountains and they're beautiful really
47:11
absolutely stunning and when it rains really heavily you'll go and then suddenly your whole hiking trail will be
47:17
different because the a river of water has gone through and run rocks through it or whatever so it's like you kind of
47:23
do have a new experience with all the hikes you go on as well um so I I I love
47:28
the winter for being in the mountains at a time when I can walk my dog and if
47:34
it's not raining because I don't want to go up and get stuck somewhere in the rain but if it's not raining and it's just sort of Cloudy it's a really lovely
47:41
time to be up in the mountains and going for hikes and the hikes here in the Sierra calone mountains are like
47:47
stunning and really amazing I know no one's invited me up to come it's okay
47:52
well it's okay so but I I can't invite you now so this is the problem we have this thing in Spain I think it's all
47:58
over but I don't know it's definitely in Valencia where we have these processionary caterpillars and they are poisonous I've heard about so this I
48:05
haven't seen those is the vein of my existence because now other than the fact that I mean even now the rain is clearing this would be the best time to
48:13
take Blaze for a long walk in the mountains but the they live in these caterpillars they live in the pine trees
48:20
and they come out at this time of year they break out of their nest and they go and they walk on the floor and they they
48:26
walk in a in a line with each other that's why they're called processionary and they have all these little hairs on them and if a dog smells them or steps
48:34
on one or something well they fly off right like the the hairs fly I don't know if the hairs fly off but if they
48:39
sniff them or if they get one of those hairs probably a dog this is the problem is more likely to sniff this cute little thing cuz they look really adorable
48:46
they're like these cute little Lin if you touch them they'll go through your skin it will give dogs anapec shock and
48:53
they will die so but they're really they're really dangerous for humans I think they're quite dangerous for
48:58
smaller humans definitely but I think for an adult it's it's manageable I think but it's very they're very
49:04
dangerous it's it's anyway it's one of these things where it really have you seen them I've only read about them yeah
49:09
I've seen them and we've cut them out of our trees we've had to cut the nest out so what you do if you have trees on your
49:15
property is you can cut the nests out if you see them during the winter because they are nesting for a certain amount of
49:21
time and then you can cut them out you you burn them you you know kill them and
49:26
throw away and you can sort of get rid of them on your property in that way but
49:32
if you go up into the mountains nobody's managing Mount the whole freaking mountain right so you literally cannot
49:38
it's just it's too for me it's too dangerous to be taking my dog for a hike and it's for literally two months out of
49:43
the Year and that is really a disappointing thing because it's you you know they're going to come out like
49:50
between March and April but you never really know it depends on the weather and sometimes you get a hot spell and sometimes you don't and so it's kind of
49:56
one of these things that there's a point once they're done they're done right once they're done they're done and you're good because what they do is they
50:01
come down I think they they find do they fly turn into moths and they fly up into the trees again and just make another
50:08
Nest so there literally they they're not doing anything either it's not they're not doing any not doing anything
50:14
useful it's like if you're going to be poisonous do something useful but right so it's just that's a bit of a bummer
50:20
because it means I just can't enjoy this time of year which would be the perfect time of year to do that so yeah but
50:25
you're right it's only a very it's technically a small do do you know if they have them in the city like in the in the Tera Park Tria I doubt it because
50:32
I think you can manage that amount of trees right you I can manage my property like we've got like five pine trees I
50:39
mean you can manage a small area like I I saw them walking and they like when they from what I read am I wrong like
50:46
you've seen like the line the processionary line's very long right it can go for many mini feet correct yeah
50:52
because they all go together but what when I saw it recently I saw a pile of them so I think a nest might have broken
50:57
or something and just landed on the floor so it was literally a pile of them and I was walking Blaze and I was like
51:03
oh and I was walking her so I couldn't do anything about it so then when I got back home I posted like a
51:08
Google pen on our WhatsApp group to everybody like this is where I saw it you know um because at that point they
51:13
probably got themselves together and walked off but you know it's it's um it's something to be aware of if you're
51:19
not I think in the city not a problem I don't think you're going to find them there um but you don't want to be coming
51:25
into Valencia here in like March and going I'm taking my dog for a hike in the mountains just don't do it right yeah right that's my that's my uh pssa
51:34
for today well
51:39
great you must have a funny story we can end on because that was not funny I'm trying to think do I have a funny funny
51:46
story that has nothing to do with processionary caterpillar cpar well the other the
51:53
wonderful thing about Valencia now which we experienced a couple days ago when we were together were the orange
51:59
blossoms oh my God okay so that is I am
52:05
in love with this city for this are because and I didn't wasn't even aware
52:11
of this before I moved here right like I saw a video of that harvesting an orange tree in the middle of a city you know in
52:16
the city I didn't realize that many of the ornamental trees like you know thousands of the ornamental trees are
52:23
orange trees and you don't notice it during the summer because you don't notice you don't see green oranges in
52:29
these very thick green trees I mean they're very dense trees and then it's around November October November they
52:37
start getting big so you see the big green and that's when I when we first moved here I didn't notice anything
52:42
until the fall and I was like those are orange trees and I was looking everywhere and then by December they're oranges it's gorgeous it's gorgeous and
52:50
the whole city when it's a dark gloomy winter and you see these bright Balls Of Sunshine by the thousands around the
52:56
city and you say ornamental because they're not really edible those ones well are they they're edible by well
53:03
they're edible by you people really they harvest them yeah they harvest them and send them to like England to make orang
53:09
juice um marmalade oh yeah yeah totally mamade yeah that makes sense so I have
53:14
picked one I have used it it's more like a lemon so you would use it as a cocktail garnish versus eating it well
53:20
make mamade you can try that but you won't eat it make marmalade for me I I'll I'll eat it no I like marmalade I like I'm very National Tanya don't tell
53:27
me what I can and can I eat I want to eat the M that you make that's
53:34
why so you know in January like the city's really full and then they harvest
53:39
them all in like January February right about mid-February I think is when they start harvesting them and then the
53:46
orange blossoms come and it's it's it's funny because it takes forever for the oranges to bloom but the orange blossoms
53:52
happen right after the har they just pop out and it's the City's got these little white Starry looking flowers blanketing
54:00
and the smell is it's just intoxicating and in some places I've gone to some City squares where there's too many
54:06
orange trees and it's like almost like sickening because it's so sugary sweet you're like I'm getting a little sour
54:11
stomach it's so it's I'm just breathing in sugar it smells but it smells so good cuz we're out in we're out in the
54:16
mountain so you know we get wafts of it from like our neighbors Gardens and stuff and it is delightful and then you
54:22
get a waft of the Jasmine you know and you're like oh my God it's so amazing but what happened when we were together
54:27
which was funny because we walked around a corner and I hadn't thought that it was an orange blossom season and you were like oh my God smell that it's so
54:34
good and I took in a whiff I took in a whiff and all I got was cigarette smoke cuz there was a guy smoking a
54:42
cigarette under the tree and I didn't even smell the cigarette smoke I'm like what are you talking you're like ew I'm
54:47
like and in my mind I'm like I'm friends with someone that doesn't like the smell of orange blossoms like how is this
54:53
possible and it took me a minute to walk by and I start laughing then I got the whiff and I was like oh yeah that's is
54:59
so good you're probably thinking I'm friends with someone that likes cigarette smoke like well actually this is what I thought I thought that at some
55:05
point because I have friends like this and I don't know if you're one of them I have friends that have quit smoking that
55:11
really like to smell other people secondhand smoke so I thought that was what was going on I'm a little
55:17
borderline that so I did used to smoke and I quit smoking and I would I don't
55:23
want to sit by people's cigarette smoke it doesn't make me sick and I would much prefer after living in California and
55:30
the and basically I think anywhere in the United States is this way the smell of marijuana permeates every moment of
55:37
your day so when I moved here and everyone still I mean we can talk about that another day how people are smoking
55:43
with strollers and but like the cigarette smoke is here and I'm like oh
55:49
to me it smells like heaven compared to just the marijuana smoke yeah which to
55:54
me is a much stronger makes me sick to my stomach SM nothing against marijuana
55:59
do what you got to do enjoy your time here on Earth but it's not in my face just not in my apartment right it seeps
56:06
through the walls does seep through the walls but so but I think we can all agree that the that the orange blossom
56:12
is a fantastic smell and it's gorgeous and the you may not see this you may not see this in the city cuz I don't know if
56:18
you have any but the almond trees also are blossoming now they have such a
56:24
gorgeous I mean such a lovely smell but what it smell like is it like like almond is it like a cherry vanilla smell
56:30
I would say more like a sweet vanillary smell they it doesn't really smell of almonds but it smells really really good
56:36
but the only issue with the Almond blossoms is you really have to stick the flour in your nose it's not floating
56:42
around like the orange blossoms do so you really have to go up to an almond tree and smell it which I recommend
56:48
everybody do if you've never smelled an Almond Blossom it is fantastic well um next time you come to the city P the
56:55
side of the I will pull up to the side of the road illegally saw the brch for you just for
57:01
you will you bail me out of jail that's the question sure why not maybe as long as I have the orange the Almond with me
57:08
you've wanted time away right don't you I didn't I don't think jail was what I was thinking but this is you know this
57:15
is also another PSA if you say things like that be very specific because the universe will make a
57:21
joke took a joke into reality totally all right well I think um till next week
57:27
